asus a7n8x deluxe refurb for $39 @ newegg

Based on pevious buyers of this refurb, you almost always end up having to buy additional items from ASUS to be able to have a board complete with everything. Just figure a bare board that may or may not be any good for $39. Most customers will agree that if you get a defective board you may not be out a return fee and shipping costs. NewEgg still leads the way in regard to customer service.

What? An I/O panel? I've got a couple sitting around that will probably work.

But without with i/o panel doesn't the air flow inside your PC get messed up? Since there is a big hole in the back of your case it also can lead to more dust.

I was under the impression that IO panels are used as a grounding device to the chasis.

It serves as EMI shield but it not at all necessary for grounding, the metal on the port jacks themselves are already grounded. It would significantly alter airflow to do without it though, and it a negative way since most cases have more exhaust than intake so dust will be deposited in those ports on it's way into the case, and a drastic decrease in HDD cooling unless there's a fan in front of HDD bay. Even so, if you plan for it being missing then measures can be taken to offset the situation.

When I bought my refurbed 8x Deluxe, it was a rev 2.0 with 400mhz fsb support ... if you get something else, you can always take the chance of sending it back over and over until you get a 2.0 - however, this could get pricey and not worth the "Hot" deal when you consider shipping just to get a 2.0.

Sigh- I didn?t need the last one I bought there, but since I sold it a week ago, I caved and bought another last night. It doesn?t take too much dremel carving to convert a standard I/O shield to fit these. I?ve done it with a couple of these and a few other brands of bare newegg refurb boards. I?ve also ordered the $20 assy package which includes everything (cables, manual, CD and I/O shield) before. In the case of the A7N8X deluxe it really is the only way to have useable firewire.

just receive mine.... when i took it out of the fedex box i was like huh? its in an asus box instead of the stupid white box they usually send it in. then i opened it and it was beautiful, EVERYTHING WAS THERE AND THE LITTLE PLASTIC PACKAGES HADNT EVEN BEEN OPENED... checked the mobo and as far as i know it had never been installed. i guess someone ordered it, opened it, decided they didnt like it, and returned it.

oh yeah and it was NF2 400Ultra. my hesitation on refurbs is much lower now.

Thank you for the updateTsunami982

I bought one as well & should be here on the 24th.

After hearing what you've received I can hardly wait! 😀

I'd been contemplating for days now whether to buy this mobo or not. But after reading your post Tsunami, went ahead and ordered it plus the refurb 2100XP. I hope I get lucky also.

Wish me luck!

Any ideas on how frequently this occurs? I was debating between this one and the Shuttle AN35N-Ultra. Any suggestions on which one would be a better choice?

Thanks!
Rich

The Shuttle would be the better choice since it's the only one of the two that's still in stock. 🙂

Got mine today, rev 2.0. Sweet, although it came in white box with no accessories. So ymmv on this board. All asus refurbs I bought from newegg has always been white box.

Will test it tonight and hope it works, mine was clearly used. I dont mind as long as it works. I am gonna push my xp 1800+ to 220 FSB.

How do you know it's NF2 400 Ultra? Mine says rev 2.0 on the board? I did not take off yet the NB heatsink to check the NF2 chipset.

Did you buy the refurb non-E or E dlx mobo?
