Pretty good deal, I got one during last batch and waiting for it to ship.

Link

Last time was 11, this time 18 left.

Why so many refurbs? Does it mean it's a bad board?

I just got my refurb ATI 9500 Pro and it works great, even all cables are included. Why newegg refurb have highlight ink marks on all capacitors?

Also, can anyone tell me how to check for core speed and RAMDAC speed? Which program? Thanks.

This part scares me . . . it would be nice to have the I/O connectors, driver disk, etc...

From NewEgg Website
The pictures shown are from the NEW version of this item. If you purchase this refurbished product you will receive an OEM BAREBONE, meaning it is just the item itself. Accessory items are NOT INCLUDED with refurbished products. Accessories are shown in the pictures so that customers will know what is missing from the item.

THats always been neweggs policy, but more times then not, you'll get all the goodies thrown in.

Just ordered two of the non-delux. The only real advantages to the delux is the Gigabit LAN, improved sound, and SATA. None of those are things that I will be using on the two systems I'm building, so why spend the extra $20?

Thanks for the deal :D

I just ordered one this same board new from newegg for a friend.. it got decent reviews, but this is scaring me.
Should I order a refurb for me, or is there some problem with the board I don't know about?

I had serious issues with this board... the thing refused to boot up. I wonder if others are having issues as well and that is where this steady supply of refurbs is coming from... I might have to try the Epox board...

Were there any beeps, or any of the diagnostic lights go on? I haven't seen people post that problem before w/ this board.

I have the deluxe version of this board. Only known problem I had was when i attempted to run Duel Channel DDR with 233 sticks. When i tried this, i would get random blue screens in windows xp pro. But after switching back to the regular 1 and 2 ddr slots. Windows worked fine and no other known issues popped up for me. But thats just my experience :)

Oh yea it also has this neat boot up voice where it says "Your system has completed the power on self test, You system is booting up your operating system". But it gets annoying after a while

Overall kicka** board, but would've been better if there was an ide-raid controller

Yeah great motherboard, cept for the dual ddr thing as mentioned before. I even had two corsair 333 sticks and it would randomly crash, well not too randomly, most of the time it crashed when I tried to copy data from cd to harddrive. It would go about 150 megs and then stop, no matter if you were making an ISO, or just copying files from the cd. When I switched it to slots 1 and 2, it worked fine, but I really wanted to get the Dual channel mode to work. I hope they release a bios update soon to fix it. Besides that, the sound is great and the features are great too, plenty of USB ports (2.0) and even a 1394 port I think, don't remember because I built it for a friend. I didn't know it had gigabit lan though, is that right?

Oh, and you can actual change the stuff that is said at boot up, there is some program included with the drivers cd that lets you change the file to something that you want with your own voice. Pretty unique.

it actually depends...sometimes you'll get all the accessories and sometimes you'll only get the board. These are straight returns, so i'd be wary of this seeing how many there are.

Wow, this board kicks ass, but last time I bought a refurbed board from Newegg I did not get anything but the board. That meant non I/O shield, no extras like the USB and Firewire brackets, no cables et cetera...so if you are fine with that, this is the board for you. I had not problems whatsoever with the actual board. However, ASUS' FTP site goes down all the time and getting all the drivers can be a real pain in the behind. That is just my two cents...now to decide if I want one or not...I was almost gonna get the Soyo Plantinum Dragon, but this looks pretty good also.

if you dont get the accessories all your goin to be missing out on is 2 extra usb 2.0 ports, 1 extra game port, 1 firewire port, 1 serial port, and Serial ATA cables.

Sound like a lot... :Q, but even i dont even use all of the accessories...

axiontech has it for $79, but it says 7 day warranty only. i dont know if that means from reciept, or from shipment, since it would be horrible if that was from shipment date.

FWIW:
I bought a refurb Deluxe version from NewEgg a while ago, no cables or anything.
I contacted ASUS (Somewhere in Ca., go to their website and find em), and they let me order the motherboard accessories for $15 plus shipping.

The motherboard accessories came with all the cables, manual, a CD.

Gone! Deal is Dead until they get some more in.

I have had mixed results with Newegg, but don't think I would buy another unless it was really a large savings.

Bought a video card refurb and what was delivered was brand new with all documentation and s/w.
Bought an IBM hard drive, it was DOA. Had to send it to IBM repair center and wait a few weeks to get a replacement.
Bought a case and it came thru bent and unusable. With cost for return shipment, I could have bought a new one for less.

the good newegg refurbs (processors, powersupplies, mobos, dvd roms, etc..) are gone within 5 minutes (literally) of when the post them. Ive been trying to get a processor that I want for the last 5 days and have missed them by like 5 minutes every day. Im beginning to contemplate just buying a non-refurb for like $40 more... grrrrrr...

Either way, newegg is still the best place ive ever shopped from... mdcrab is one of the only people ive heard a bad story from...

Edit: Also, how do you tell how many of a refurb item are left? I dont see it anywhere...

This is a great board if you get luck and get a good one. Some people have no problems other have nothing but problems as a little research will show. Given this fact, I wouldn't risk a refurb. You might be paying good money for someone else's problems. I'd go for a new one.

Put an amount on the quantity, like 99 and it will show you how many are left.

You'll have to call ASUSTek , to get the backplate. You won't get if you ordered this MB. Got mine after 5 days.

Ordered a refurb A7N8X Deluxe Rev1.04 a month ago for $109.98 and it works great. Got a refurb XP2100+ TBred "B" AIUHB 0302 and it OC to 2283 MHz. BTW, I use it with a refurb case a Chenming Server Chassis AX-01SLD w/ 420W PSU (Silver - Steel w/ side window). :)

Refurbs from Newegg on this system, shipped.
MB - $ 109.98
Case - $ 69
TBred - $ 69
---------------------
Total - $247.98 - Saved about $95.

I see alot of people complaining about dual DDR not working on this board.
Lots of people refuse to read the manual about thier $150 (+ chip cost) investment as well. Most of you know better, but for those that do not:

There are 3 mem slots on the a7n8x. For dual DDR, you can ONLY use 1 &3, 2&3, or 1 2 and 3. The ONLY other config 1&2, and is is wrong and will not work properly, thought it may look like the best way to install the ram since 1 & 2 are closest to each other, you may think "less distance for electrons to travel means faster", or "together means pair". Tom's even says "to use DDR... use different banks..." (Last picture caption)

I read the manual every step of the way, despite being a military Systems Engineer and Networks Administrator, and having built MANY computers from scratch. Lots of companies do stuff different ways, and what you did before, or what your friend's comp does may not always work in your situation/case. With that said, I have had no problems whatsoever with this board, and it overclocks above my expectations, with cheepo generic mwave memory. :D

EDIT: I can't vouch for refurbs, though it may be possible people couldn't get DDR to work like some of the peeps in this post.
Their loss, is your gain...
