Asus A7N8X Deluxe and Barton 2500+ work or not???

im researching parts on a new computer. and i am pretty much set on the idea of getting the A7n8X Deluxe. why? cuz its so tight ass. but anyways, im having the hardest time now figuring out my CPU. everything else is set, i just dont know which CPU. I have looked at the bartons with the 333fsb and the 512 cache. and as those would be nice, just how much better over a t-bred is it? anyways, my main question is about the new Barton 2500+. i cant find a straight anwser at ANY sight if the 2500 will work with the A7N8X Deluxue. i hear from asus that it works with this mobo, but i would like more opinions. and if it does or dosent, what kind of processor do you reccomend? (mainly gaming pc). thanks

NVidia posted something recently about their chipset being compatible with the new 333fsb and 400fsb Barton core. It appeared to be a blanket statement which would include all of the NForce2 boards.

I'm running a 2500+ at 2.0GHz on an A7N8X mobo. Heatsink is an Alpha PAL8045 and the RAM is 2 sticks of 512MB PC2700 Samsung.

Yes it supports it "Officially" in fact many sktA boards even the almost 2yr old K7S5A will support the barton with the newer bios and ID it correctly including cache size but@266fsb.

I read a test a couple days ago, Barton and T'Bird at the same clock speed on a Nforce2 board, The T'Bird beat the Barton in some test and the Barton beat the T'Bird by 1 to 5 percent in other test, I don't even think it pays to get a 333 processor for a Nforce2 right now,

Are you sure it was T'Bird vs. Barton, not TBred vs. Barton? If you're correct, I'm taking back my old computer from my 10 year-old niece.😀 But I have a strong feeling it was a TBred.

That doesnt sound right. Anands review of the 3000 Barton (2.167ghz) showed it faster than the equally clocked 2700 Tbred (2.167ghz). Both with 333fsb of course.

I have a A7N8X DELUX WITH 2500XP BARTON. Purchased 4/8/03. Working fine, but I think that the CPU will work with a voltage of 1.6 and the MB lowest voltage is 1.7. I may attempt to run the CPU at the 1.7 volt and a hight speed. I am looking for some benchmark or other software that can give me reliable info about my computer and the speen of the cpu, nemory etc.

The A7N8X delux and 2500+ combo are really popular right now actually. It is definitely supported. As for any performance gain, in the real world the gains are minimal. There will be advantages/disadvantages. The Barton cores run at a lower clock so they take a slight hit, but have the higher FSB and L2 cache so it gains a little. If you don't feel its worth it, then don't get it, if you do, then buy away.
