Does this tell anyone anything?
I want to thank everyone for sticking with me on this. I am running AMD 2700+Thoroughbred, on an ASUS AS7N8X deluxe MB, Ti4200 128MB 8x, twin 512DDR LLPT Corsair for a total of 1024 memory, 120GB Maxtor 8Mb Cache, 52/24/52 Lite-on CD r/rw. Right now I am do not have a floppy installed, I downloaded the ISO of memtest86 v3.0 and burned to CD to test. I should mention that I currently have just the HD mentioned above with no second HD at this time. I bought the MB off ebay from a guy that failed to mention that nothing at all came with the board. I didn't get any wires, CD or anything. I have dl-ed the manual from ASUS and the chipset and drivers.
To refresh everyones memory, I seem to be (AM) having video problems on a New computer build. I have tried several games such as No One Lives Forever 2, Splinter Cell, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit ect. with horrible chunking! I have played all of these games on my other system which is a 1GB T-bird with 512 (nonddr), same video card as mentioned above and on a Comcrap MB. The games ran fine on max details in the comcrap using the Ti 4200 128MB!? I, however, could not run above 4X on the comcrap. I know my new build has the power and components to blow the old system out of the water, But it seems as the video 3d graphics are being slowed or stalled by something. To test this I downloaded a program called Dreamrender.com which shows 3D, animated desktops. The animations chunk along, EXCEPT WHEN I RIGHT CLICK ANYWHERE ON THE DESKTOP! THEN THE SPEED COMES THROUGH AND THE ANIMATIONS RUNS AT LIGHTNING SPEED! The sames thing happens when I move the mouse pointer to an active icon such as a play or stop button on media player, or even just the start button. I don't have to click on those buttons, Just as soon as the mouse is over the button/s, or I right click anywhere on the desktop, the 3d graphics speed up! I just don't understand what could be holding them back like that.
Also have been getting "System Failed Memory Test" from the female voice when booting, before loading windows, but then the os seems to open just fine. Right after the system failed memory test error, and before booting to os, the computer searches for SATA/RAID. I can't find an option anywhere in the bios to change or disable that. I also don't have the option in the bios to change the memory to twin mode or anything. I have the option to change the mem to 50% or 100%, but when I select 100% it goes back to 50%. I have also, as suggested in the previous post, reset bios to default and still have the problem!!!??? I am getting so frustated with this thing I am about to throw it out the window. Also need to mention that with the small stock heatsink & fan supplied with the PC I am getting active temps showing around 64C. I don't however think that has anything to do with the above mentioned problems.
Please anyone who can offer any suggestions or solutions, please let me know. I only have the weekend to try to fix this before going back out of town on business. Also should mention that I have DSL WLAN/4port router setup on the comcrap and have a PCI receiver card in my new built, but I have been having the problems before I installed the receiver card.
Thanks to all who can help!
