asus a7n8x + 64bit?

Hi, my friend has a AMD anthlon XP 2500+ and he would like to upgrade to a AMD 64 3200+. Will this be a significant improvement, and will the 64 bit processor work on his asus a7n8x motherboard?

No, you'll have to get a new motherboard. The Athlon 64s use a completely different socket.
