ASUS A7N266VM & SIL3114 boot issue

So I have an old 'pizza box' case with this mobo in it and I'm turning it into a mutil TB NAS/Media server. Problem is, I cannot boot from the optical drive (NEC ND-3520A) when there is a an HDD present on the SIL3114.

If I disconnect the HDD, it boot off the CDROM, but then, obviously, I can't install my OS.

A7N266 Bios is 1006.

That's tough. Have you tried to flash the SiI3114 to a newer BIOS?
