Asus A7n266-VM

I have currently built a system with the A7n266-vm mobo. IT came as a combo and it came with an Athlon XP, 256 mb of DDR pc 2100 ram. When i turn the computer it it does not come up with the startup screen. It sits with a blank screen and just beeps. I have never encoutered this problem before. I have tried all the various jumper settings on the motherboard. The processor is not bad, nor is the motherboard. I have put the Processor in my own system and it worked, and have put my processor in this system and it worked. I cannot get them to work together. Please if anybody has encoutered this or has any suggestions besides using a hammer i would greatly apprecate it.

Beeps usually means problems. Did you get a manual for your mobo? ...if so there should be a section on understanding the beeps. If not..well..its guess and check. First thing is to make sure you have everything properly seated. Next is to check you have power connected correctly. From what you said it is possible the Ram might be messing up..or seated wrong..

did you test the memory in another computer? generally, one long beep means no memory detected or memory bad. if you got the combo at frys with their generic memory, it could very well be bad. make sure you have the chip seating properly with arctic silver and a heatsink plugged in--nothing worse than blowing an athlon trying to test it.
