hey guys, wanted a low power cpu so I got a 35W Athlon4 Mobile cpu.
AHM1100AUQ3B 1100 MHz 200 MHz 1.60V 6 0.18 micron 21.90A 35.00W 100°C ceramic Palomino

I tried sticking it in an ASUS A7N266-VM/AA and also an Epox 8K3A+ and it won't boot.

the asus uses the nforce 220 chip set and the epox is KT333.
I did set the FSB to 100, and cleared cmos.

I just need to know if the cpu is bad or are the mobos not compatible?

thanks

Did you jumper the A7N266-VM for 100MHz/100MHz baseline memory and CPU bus speeds? If not, give that a try next :) Good luck cheapgoose!

Huh... and is your A7N266-VM using a recent BIOS? The latest one is 1007. If you need a DOS boot-disk maker, head over to bootdisk.com and that DR-DOS 7.x is working great for me :) But the Athlon4 is an older chip, so you would think that if they were going to support it, they would've done so by now.

Actually.... you need the jumpers to be 1-2 and 2-3 to get 100/100. The manual is wrong, and they stuck a little "correction" insert into the manual, at least with all the A7N266-VM's I worked with. I don't have a scanner... i'll try taking a pic of the insert. The right way (according to insert)
Wrong way (in manual)

hey, thanks for the reply, actually i do have the pins right, but I typed it in the wrong order. I was reading from bottom up so the correct order is 1-2, 2-3. I was looking at it from the bottom of the board.
