Gawd, would you look at those prices. ASUS really charges an arm and a leg. ASUS's KT266A and 415-D boards are nearly 40% more than the Epox 8KHA+ board.

ASUS does make high-quality boards, no doubt. But their prices are getting a little high IMO. Well, I guess that's why they're the most high-quality boards out there.

Their prices are high, but i've never had any problems with their boards. Also, they don't put any goodies on their boards, like a good sound card, USB 2.0, etc...I guess Asus is relying on their reputation these days.

I translated some of that article. The guy likes the stability of the board, and thinks the overclocking is average to good. The performance is on par with the KT266A he says (nothing new) and everything is the same.

I just hope a mainboard maker comes out with a cheap 415-D board for me to get.

A nearly $50 drop from the 420-D MSI board to the 415-D version?? Not likely. Heck the cheapest 420-D motherboard on Pricewatch is still $140 + $10 S&H

Hmmmm, well only time will tell weather MSi's will be significantly cheaper, truthfully, it's not suprising how "expensive" it still is because of Asus. Not much you can do, truthfully, I guess, I think that it's tough to get much of a better deal than you allready get with K7N420 Pro (if overclocking improves which it could).

The $80-$90 price range are for the 415-D boards. All the boards you mentioned are 420-D boards. I think there will be a price drop for the 415-D. Remember, they are taking out integrated video.

This has been avaiable in the UK for a few days now, and the 415-D version is about £20 cheaper than the A7N266, and £40 cheper than the A7N266-E....thatd put an MSI 415-D board at a very likely top end of $120 or less id say....and hey, it aint Via... j/k :p

I said that b/c $55 - $65 is a big "estimated" price gap between a Micro-ATX 420-D motherboard and a 415-D board. "Certain" people have been flaunting around the $80 - $90 figure for 415-D boards.

But if you think that the boards are going to drop $55 - $65 dollars JUST for the loss of GF2 MX, then you are SORELY mistaken.

It's not like MSI, ASUS, ABIT, and Gigabyte are the only mainboard makers that are going to release nForce boards. Leadtek and Mitac are also nForce partners, and are supposed to be releasing 415-D boards soon.

MSI, ASUS, ABIT, and Gigabyte are known for somewhat higher board prices in general. However, many sources have already said that 415-D boards are going to be ~ $30 cheaper than 420-D boards. If that's the case, than we could have $116 415-D boards at debut (MSI K7N420 board is $146 @ newegg).

I bet we'll see MSI-like quality boards close to $100. Mitac, Leadtek, etc. will likely be the ones to make the $80-90 nForce boards (according to Vanshardware that is).

I don't think people have been flaunting the $80-$90, this price was reported by a website. Whether the actual price will be that low, who knows?

The MSI 420-D board is about $140, which means the 415-D board can easily be about $100. ASUS has always been more expensive than others, so I know their 415-D will probably be about $110 or so.

By the way, what is the big poop about the 415-Ds? You think $110 for a good performing motherboard with a great onboard sound and onboard LAN is too much? I don't think so....

The person posting right above you has been screaming 80-90 from the rooftops for a while now. He even lashed out at someone in the articles forum b/c 415-D WILL DEBUT AT THAT PRICE RANGE. I just sit back and laugh;)

I have no problem with $110 for the board. I'm just saying that a $55 - $65 drop is wishful thinking.

AGodspeed, you know if Epox could charge what Asus charges for their motherboards they would, same can be said for Shuttle and ECS.

Lol, I merely posted a thread about it. I don't know about "screaming 80-90 from the rooftops", but I like your use of loaded terminology. ;)

And I never said "415-D WILL DEBUT AT THAT PRICE RANGE." I merely pointed to Vanshardware as the source of that information with great joy, as I've wanted to get a cheap and overclockable nForce board for some time now. However, by no means did I say that I knew for a fact that 415-D boards would be $80-90. Who the hell who even claim to know that except nVidia or the board makers themselves. The only thing I had to go on were 3rd party sites, which obviously know more info about it than you or I do.

Your statement has me

LOL, I just thought you were being kinda hard on the guy in that that thread;) But the way you made that statement in that thread, you made it seem like fact to back up your points. But the day I trust Van's Hardware is the day that I drive w/o a seatbelt.

Well rather than bickering about the price, how about a question on overclocking? How does this board overclock compared to the KR7A266 or the A7N266-E (n420)? Does this board feature a fixed 33mhz pci bus like the A7N266-E? Is it still mostly onboard OC jumpers? How is the memory bandwidth compared to the 266-E? Let's see.... and anything else pertinent. ;)

ya gotta wonder why these bloody things cost so much - it's probably due to the fact taht nvidia never made chipsets before along w/ the fact that their chipsets cost more than the competitions...

i mean, VIA KT333, SIS 745, etc. - all pin compatible with previous chipsets....slap em in and go! (simplified account)

You know, the A7N266-C's have been available for between $110-120 in the U.S. for quite some time now, about two weeks, so this isn't really news. :)

Lol, it looks like my estimation of $116 415-D boards 6 weeks ago was right on the money though. ;)
