I have this MB running with amd 1.2ghz
now i want to switch to a 1.4ghz 266fsp
I just wonder if this mb can support 1.4
since in the manual it only have the jump setting up to 1.2ghz.
Also i want to update my bios, do i really have to update in order
to run1.4ghz?
my bios version about 1003, released on 2/13/2001
i know there is a newer version of bio, but i when i went to
updage, it says my inner bio version is changed.
one reason i can think of is that i used ezbio from MAxtor that comes
with their HD. so i just wonder anything i can do to update my bios
with out damage my hd partition.
anyone with such experience please help.
thanks.

Yes, you would have to update your BIOS to properly use a 1.4 processor. You would want version 1004A. Not too familiar with your Maxtor overlay software, but I thought that was more related to the HDD, not the BIOS. Someone more familiar with that will have to answer. My thought is that you should or would have to reinstall your drive without the overlay software. Why are you using that? I thought that was only for use with MB's and systems that could not recognize larger drives? Kind of a thing of the past.
