Asus A7M266 processor upgrade ???

I'm looking to do a cheap upgrade on my system. Thought I'd look into new cpu. Asus shows my motherboard (A7M266) will accept a Athlon XP 2100+ Palomino with the latest bios.

Only palomino's i've found are on ebay. Newegg sells xp 2100+ thoughbred's.

Will an A7M266 run a throughbred ? what about cpu's faster than 2100+ ?

Thanks for asking the question - I have a similar setup (T-Bird 1.4, Asus A7m266, 512mb Crucial PC2100) and was wondering the same thing. What is the highest processor I can upgrade to? Thanks!

Hmm, tempted to offer the retail 2100 Palomino I pulled out of my main box 6 weeks ago I've been meaning to put in a secondary machine
