asus a7m266 no post

i just got a used a7m266 mb. i put a used 1.0g 200fsb athlon and used ddr2100 in it. i know the ram should be ddr1600 but asus's site has a q&a site that seems to say it would be recognised as ddr1600.

when i boot the system (everything out of case on table) with only a working video card, ram and cpu, i get a beep about every second from the case speaker and no video. the fans on the cpu and mb both spin up.

ill be able to test the mb and processor this weekend but i just wondered if anyone had any other ideas before i tear into removing the mb from my working unit to get at the cpus and change them.

Sounds like a RAM problem. You might want to try removing it and reinstalling the stick in a different slot or just back into the original slot. There are several jumpers on this board that need to be set also. At the very least you will need to set it up for "Jumperless" function. The irony is that you have to set a jumper to get it to "jumper free" mode. Download the manual and go through the setup with that.
