Hey

I was just looking for a little incite into this mb. What people thought? I know ASUS is very good about making stable mb's.

I'd like a comparison between this mb and EP-8K7A.

Thanks for your help

a7m266 and the 8k7a are very similar boards, same chipset, and both are good boards, the a7m266 does cost more and its also probably a little higher quality, but..... it doesnt have multiplier adjustment, so its a poor overclocking board

the 8k7a does have good overclocking abilities

yes they are very similar except for the price...125 for the mobo at newegg....with the money saved you can do something else to fancy up your computer.

Actually if you only want to overclock via the fsb settings the Asus board is an excellent overclocker and is extremely stable. I have both boards and would recommend the Epox due to the price although the Asus and Gigabyte boards are of higher quality. Performance between the boards are equal at the same settings. The Asus will give better numbers once tweaked if you are only using the FSB for overclocking but the Epox is better due to the multiplier settings available. The Gigabyte 7DXR offers a very very small performance increase over both boards. However, the Gigabyte 7VTX offers equal performance if you wanted to take the KT266 route, only drawback to this board is the lack of CPU voltage settings if your CPU needs it. In the end the differences are so small that you would not be able to tell the difference between the boards in most cases, so go with features or price.

Just a vote for the ASUS board. I just built my system with one and it was a delight. I am not an "expert" by any means and I appreciated the ease of setup and the jumperless tweaking in the BIOS.:D

Everybody here are talking about OC, multiplayer settings, ??I love my computer??, etc
Do somebody here video editing, rendering 4-5 Gb video files, yes 4000-5000 Megabyte, encoding .avi video to .mpeg2 etc?
How good and stable is the Epox board, or the MSI board (DDR)?
How good and fast are the non-Raid boards for video (Asus K7M266).
I am NOT a gamer! I am NOT an overclocker. :)
