Asus A7M266... ECC question

Hi.. I recently purchased an Asus a7m266 mobo, and 512mb pc2100 DDR ECC ram.. I didn't notice until after I put the system together, that this mobo doesn't support ECC ram, but I have been using the memory for a few days now, and it seems to run great.. No crashes or anything.. Will anything be damaged if I continue to use this memory? Or does ECC memory, when used in a non-ECC mobo, just operate in a non-ecc mode?

It just won't use the error correcting feature of the ECC memory. It will also be faster this way. Let me ask you this. Why do you need ECC memory?
