ASUS A7M and XP 1800?

Can I use an XP 1800 CPU with my ASUS A7M mobo with the AMD 761 northbridge?

On the A7M266? Yes you can with the latest BIOS update.

I have the bios update, but I dont know what flash utility to use. I did a search on this page http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_dl_menu.asp?l1=1&l2=10&l3=3&mid=1 for "flash" and it gives me a buch of results. Of the results a bunch of them are "flash utilities" Alot of them look like what I need, a bios flash utility for Win2k. Can you point me to the one I need?

Just click on the "light bulb looking thing" under BIOS Flash Note. It will give you the Flash utility you need. Use the first option and it should be fine. Note; make sure you flash this BEFORE you install the XP CPU. Also, you may need to set the "Slew Rate" to 1. For mucho more info on this, you can check out the ASUS MB forum at AMDMB.com
