Which one is better?
I found refurbished a7a266 for $69 and retail package k7s5a for $65 in pricewatch.

And are both mobo ok with 300W power supply?

Thanks.

Go with the ECS K7S5A. I have one and it's rock solid, plus the performance is outstanding. The A7A266 uses the ALi chipset, which is rather slow compared to the SiS 735.

I agree the Asus name cant make the alimagic 1 chipset a viable solution if your unsure about ECS Asus will put out a Sis 735 board A7S266 wait for that

I can't say enough good things about my K7S5A and @65$w/10/100 lan it's the best price/performance deal I've ever worked with.

I heard that a lot of people around here said ECS k7s5a is over Asus a7A266 becuase a7a266's ALi M1647 Chipset.
But is the speed difference really noticible?

Yes it is. MAGiK in some cases, performs like KT133A+SDRAM. It should be avoided, especially when K7S5A is cheaper and better.

Excuse me for butting in but does anyone know how the ECS k7s5a overclocks ?

I'm going to build a computer for a friend and i'm considering this board. It gonna run Seti@Home with a 1400 Athlon
( Maybe overclocked ) He does'nt know it jet though. So i'm curious ;)

What DDR-Ram should i get for it ? ( Don't say Crucial or Mushkin i live in Denmark and it's nearly impossible to get here )

PC-2100 of course else i don't know

The ECSk7s5a is cheap , (relatively stable) and supports DDR ram !

Doesn't overclock well though

See the Official ECS k7s5a thread in the motherboards for more info!
