I am haveing some weird problems with my asus 9800xt. I thought it was heat, now I am starting to think it is not heat. Anyways, I have been getting heavy artifacts/other problems in games. I have run ATI tool and I get artifacts also.

I decieded to get a new heatsink/fan for my video card. It lowered the GPU 10c and I am still getting problems. The temp when not gaming is about 39c, while gaming it goes up to about 41c.

Another thing I noticed was the video cards RAM. It is at about 35c while not gaming, goes up to about 39c while gaming. Is that high for RAM? Seems low to me...

My gameing is horrible, artifacts all over...models stretch...It gets to where I can't even see!

I decieded to lower the video cards RAM 4mhz, all artifacts go away in ATI tool but not games. I have tried different drives. Nothing changes this. I have a new PC coming tomorrow (mobo/cpu/ram). I will see if this fixes anything. Currently I am running:

asus a7v8x
AMD XP 2400+
512 ddr 400
Asus 9800XT

I have googled all over checking for problems. I have found nothing. Anyone have a clue?
Thank you.

are yuo saying the speeds are:
core-stock
ram-stock-4mhz
and it still runs with artifacts?
the temps arent very high. it seems like a pixel pipe is damaged.
was it overclocked heavily before this?
also download the latest drivers for your mobo and 9800.

Yes, That is correct. Core is stock, ram is stock. I lowered the core 100 mhz there was no change with artifacts, so I set it back to default, lowered the ram 4mhz and the artifacts slowly started dropping. I let ATI tool scan for artifacts once they were all gone, they started coming back after awhile.

The card was never overclocked in the past, always set stock.

I am thinking about either RMA'ing the card or just buying a new one...is the warrenty void if a new heatsink/fan is on?
