I've been researching a system build for the last couple of weeks. I knew early on I wanted to go with the ASUS EN9800 GT for it's efficiency, quietness, and quality so I've been watching prices. Well, last week Zipzoomfly sold out of them, so Tuesday after I was ready to finally order everything in one shot, I went to Newegg and entered the card that had been there every day prior to Tuesday, and the listing had been deactivated. Argggg! (Those are the two stores I really trust). So on Wednesday during the day I found that Ewiz.com still had some. When I got home from work to place the order I'll be damned they were now sold out too ! The best stores were selling out like falling dominos.

ANTonline shows stock, so I've went ahead and placed an order with them hoping that they will come through. I've never used them before, but I have lost all my reliable options.

It is interesting that it appears Newegg and ZZF will no longer carry the card. Makes me wonder if Asus already discontinued production or not.

No comparison with the 725 Mhz monster!

Newegg's other marketing arm has it, but for some strange reason I can't link it - the address won't show up. Anyway, its at ChiefValue.com. Just search for 9800 GT at the home page - it should be the first one liste at $149.

You can't link to it because they're on the blacklist. (I don't know the backstory behind what they did to get blacklisted...)

Well, selling what was basically a 9800GTX+ as a 9800GT didn't make much sense anyway, and was clearly a short-term measure.

Yeah, if you had your heart set on an Nvidia 9800 series competitor for the HD 4850, this would perform better and is almost as cheap as the ASUS ever was (with rebate figured in).

Galaxy 9800 GTX+

Looks much better too. ;)

Thanks for the replies.

I should have mentioned I wanted the base GT model. I prefer not to overclock any of my parts because I keep my systems for a long time. I also believe the ASUS Glaciator fansink is the quietest cooling solution on the Asus cards, which I like. It so happens I've already got a new 430W Antec Earthwatts supply on hand, so I was hoping to go with the base GT model to keep the power requirements down.

ANTonline has indicated they are shipping it, so it looks like I'm good.
