Asus 8800GT $239.99 FS plus tax @ Dell

Yeah, talk about BS. Dell will just push the date back to 2009 while they load up on stock.

Average price.......These will be CHEAP after X-mas

Closest store in-stock is around 45 minutes away. Forget it. If it were the one that was 10 miles away, I'd go buy it tomorrow morning. Would cost me around $220 out the door with the 12%off and sales tax.

I order their MSI when it says 12/12 ship date, now they told me not until 1/8/2009 if not later. what a bait and switch, if they don't got it shouldn't be selling it as though they do have it in stock.

The Bestbuy coupon says "off regular price" which is $279
So the real deal is the sale price of $237

Just bought the same card at Compusa will be going tomorrow to see if i can get the price match. Otherwise I will dig it out of my machine and return it and wait till i can find it cheaper 🙂

If thats the case then this is not such a good deal after tax.
Not a bad deal either based on all the price and availability issues with the 8800 GT right now.

I guess availability is now used to justify price :frown:

I was just at my local Best Buy yesterday morning and they didn't have it. Now it says they do. WTF? I'll be damned if they got a shipment in after I left yesterday.

It's all bogus.

I've done online orders for in-store pickup on items supposedly in-stock, but were not to be found when I go to pick it up. Here's how it supposedly works... you place the order. Someone at your local store gets the order and brings your item to the service desk where it is held for you. Once it is at the service desk, you are sent an email saying it is ready for you to pick up.

I've done this twice, and both times they've screwed up. One time they never brought the item to the service desk. The other time they just plain didn't have the item at all. However, it was still (even afterwards) listed online as in-stock at that store, plus both times I've gotten the email saying it was ready for pick-up.

For the OOS item, I had to call Best Buy and speak with a CSR, who arranged a pickup from a different store (45 minutes away instead of my local store 10 minutes away). When I got my item (a TV stand) the guy at the door was joking with his manager and cracked some lame joke to me as I walked out. The joke sucked so much that I probably forgot it right afterwards, but what I did was look him right in the eyes, and without smiling said, "that wasn't funny." Then I walked out. What WAS funny was that he followed me out apologizing profusely. Guess he wasn't as buddy buddy with his manager as he thought.

Just ordered the dell ASUS 8800GT 512@ $235 plus shipping. Will let you know if it does not ship soon. IMO a weeks delivery or so around christmas is not a big deal. The card was MSRP @ $200- all cards recently have been selling higher than initial MSRP, and I can deduct this this year.

A week or two is no big deal. Besides, is it likely ATI will beat these numbers at this price range any time in the next six months? And I do not think Nvidia will undercut themselves again like this in my lifetime.

I just ordered the same card, and got an estimated ship date of 1/15/08, same as the MSI I ordered on 11/27 !

Whichever ships first wins 🙂

Edit - Nevermind, just grabbed a BFG from Best Buy. $232 after the 10% coupon ( which they stacked on the sale price, not retail).

Worked out to $5 less than the 209 dell card after tax and shipping anyway. Nice !
