Hey, this is my first post here, but I'm a long time reader of anandtech.com.

Ok, here's my problem (I have this problem since day 1) with my brand-new Asus 6800GT 128MB (2-3 weeks old) .... Every games, no that's not true, I mean every games that require a lot of video card power, like direct x 9 games(Far Cry, HL2, NFSU2), "hitch", "freeze", "hangs" or whatever you call it, for like 5-10 sec, then I can continue to play. These hangs, happen very randomly, sometime, I can play for like 30min-1hour without any hangs, sometime it happen every like 2-5mins. I'd like to be clear that the game only hangs for 5-10sec, and NOT totally freeze or crash like some people video card do. I never had this problem playing older games, or less hardware demanding games, (non-directx 9 games) like CS 1.6, Gunbound, Ragnarok Online ...

I've tried possibly everything, FastWrite Off, Sideband thing Off, AGP aparture(sp?) from 128 to 512MB, almost every nvidia drivers, asus video card drivers, and yes I was using DriverCleaner before changing drivers. My mobo bios is up-to-date (1006), nforce drivers 5.10 ... everything is updated.

That's about it, so, what do I do now ? wait for Nvidia/Asus to release decent driver ? or is there something I can do to fix it ? Thanks! and sorry for the long post ...

*EDIT* I didn't mention that I was desseperated(sp?)

may be something to do with how the power supply is hooked up to the card; is it a direct molex link from PSU to card? or do any components share the power cable?

ok, i did a little search, and found this. It states that you should use RIVATUNER to turn off Fastwrites, which is a nforce3 problem according to that - looking at your sig specs, it could help you out.

good luck

Hey, problem *seems* to be fixed, I downloaded CoolBits2 and Rivatuner, Turned FastWrites Off with rivatuner and just played maybe 1 hour of Far Cry, didn't get a single freeze. I'll keep you updated.
