Asus 6800GT 256mb V9999GT?

I would not reccomend that card at all. It is not a real 6800GT. You can get yourself a much better performaing Leadtek 6800GT for cheaper.

Guys, this is not the Gamers Edition card. The OP is interested in the 6800GT from ASUS (They do really produce one! really!)

Although expensive, the ASUS 6800GT is a high quality card from a high quality company. It shares the same heatsink as some gainward cards and is much better than the reference 6800GT cooler although louder. ASUS bundle is among the best.

EDIT: spelling 😛

It seems Asus makes a "real" 6800GT, its the one i linked in my original post. Im just wondering if its any better than the others.

They also have a "V9999 6800GT" of some sort that is equipped with DDR instead of GDDR3 (and performs more like a 6800NU). The card you linked in your first post appears to be a regular old 6800GT, and should perform exactly like any other one.

Since your concern seems to be more for your lighting than any kind of meaningful yardstick, I'm sure you'd be happy with it.

Thanks star. My main question is does the 2 molex make it a batter overclocker. We all know most 6800GT's do 400/1100 relatively easy...so what would this one do with the 2 molex connectors....That is mainly what im after here.

The two molex connectors may mean it is using a 6800ULTRA PCB, but it's most likely a redesigned solution by ASUS for more stable power.

I would assume it should be a more stable card at high clocks, but overclocking is never guarenteed.

Matt, lighting isnt important, it is just a nice feature since i have the TSunami Thermaltake case done up in all blue already. I had my heart set on the gigabyte 6800GT until i found out the cooler on it sucked compared to the other cards. So naturally, when i saw this one, i was curious...because, well...its blue...lol..

If it will run as cool as the other GT's, and perform as well as them, and overclock as good as they do, then the blue light and blue PCB put this one on the top of my list.

I can't find a review on this sucker anywhere. I have found a ton of reviews of their 128mb 6800GT. Not enough votes on newegg to make a decision on it quite yet im afraid. Ah well, i got a week or two before i order anyway, maybe by then we'll know some more.

Im sure it is a real GT, im just curious on how it performs. For example, the Gigabyte is a real GT, but its cooling solution makes it hotter than reference, and therefore far less room to O/C.

I just dont want to find out the hard way that this card has a similiar issue. But i'll give it this, it sure looks sweet when its lit up.

I just got one and it rocks. It runs smoothly and quietly. Performance is great all the time. I would highly recommend this one.

Yep, so do I and wouldn't change it for any other brand. It has ultra PCB, is quiet and cools great, great looking, great quality asembly etc... If you have the money I wouldn't doubt...

Oh, and it's a real GT with GDDR3 memory in the 256mb version (don't bother with the 128mb DDR version).

Djtech2k, so you finally followed my advice? glad to see another Asus user happy, I really like the company (even though I'm buying an MSI K8N neo2 as my next MoBo).

That one looks like a real 6800GT to me.. 256MB GDDR3 tells me this 😛

they do have a 128MB 6800NU that they label as a GT in some way, I can't recall, but for this price, and with those specs, appears to be a real GT.

why is this card so much $?

OOOOOooo IC ~ it uses an Ultra PCB! (dual molex)

find out if has 2.0ns or 1.6ns memory on it.

It is a real GT, but there also is a 6800GT core with 128mb DDR1 and a 6800Core with 256mb GDDR3. This one he has linked is the one I have, with a 6800GT core and 256mb DDR3 memory.

I don't overclock yet because my 12V rail is too low (11.4-11.7). Also I won't OC till I really need the extra frames.

I've had my V9999GT clocked well past Ultra speeds.
The highest I've pushed it is 425/1200.
I do have an OCZ Powerstream 600 PSU with dedicated 12v rails for the cards which probably makes a difference though.
