Some will remember me posting that I'm getting 5870 2GB CF, then it was GTX 470 SLI as of yesterday. Well this morning I decided to cancel the 470 pre-order. I want solid DX10 and DX11 performance; and despite Fermi's strong showing in DX11 apps, it's damn hard not to consider everything 5870 already offers. So two of these Asus V2 5870's are already packed. Newegg, packing orders on Sunday. I love you man!
I couldn't find any reviews, but am feeling pretty good about this one. Here's what I know. I saw a PCB pic a few weeks back, it looked very similar to Matrix's, with like 8 power phases or something. The cooler is direct contact with 4 heatpipes and has a solid copper fin array. It has a large diameter fan which I'm betting will do the job without excessive noise. It has one 8-pin and one 6-pin power connectors, but only 1GB memory.
So with extra power, extra phases, voltage tweaking, and what appears to be a great cooler, I'm hoping to do 950 in Crossfire while yielding good temps with acceptable fan noise. The deal is sealed this time. I'll post board pics, fan specs, and some numbers.
