Associating Outlook Express with IE5?

Jumpem

Lifer
I screwed my system earlier doing something! I'm running 98 with IE5 and Outlook Express. If I select Outlook Express by itself, from the program menu, it will open. However, it seems to not be associated with the "Mail" button in IE5 anymore. Any ideas on this one?
Thanks for the help!

Go to Tools->Internet Options:

Click the programs tab and look at whats running for email. Change it to Outlook Express.

Hey Dengar, I tried that, and their is nothing selected in the "e-mail" box. However, there are no options available in their and it won't just let you type "Outlook Express" in their. any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

jumpem i had this same problem for a long time except the only thing it would let me pick was ms outlook which my dad uses for work. i dont remember how i fixed it exactly. i think i had to reinstall outlook or it might have been when i upgraded iexplorer.

Hi, Jumpem.

Did you try using the IE repair option? Go to the Control Panel's Add / Remove Programs applet, select Internet Explorer as though you were going to uninstall it, hit the Add / Remove button. You should see some options, including a repair option. That's the one you want. (Please note that, if you do NOT see the repair option that it's time to back out of the Add / Remove applet. The repair option was included starting with IE 5.01, I believe. If you're earlier than that, you'll probably have to reinstall IE to get the function restored.)

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Jim

Good luck! Hope you'll let us know what happens. I assume the reinstall will fix it. If it doesn't it must mean that something else is actively interfering.

Jim
