Mt friend is gettin following error when trying to open any office document: "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the folder options control panel"

she has made teh file association multiple times and has rebooted multiple times

what gives?

If you are using windows xp or 2000, right click on the file go to open with then choose program and choose the program and check the box. If you are trying to open a doc in windows saved on a mac machine then the extension may not of been saved and you might need to rename them.

Can you open the file on another computer, try reinstalling word or whatever program being used.
It isn't one file, happening to all files that use office

she doesn't have the install cd with her, or else this would be my first piece of advice

is this a joke?

Does she have a fast internet connection? If so she can try openoffice. But if it is all her word docs and with any program such as word, or wordpad then there might be something wrong such as a virus on her computer.

I've had this same problem with associating media files and Zoomplayer in WinXP. I ended uninstalling and reinstalling Zoomplayer. Fixed the problem, but it seems like that should be a Windows problem, not Zoomplayer.
