(kinda big, mean guy you don't want to get on the bad side of)...and asked, "Can you explain to me why you are soliciting in the halls??"
Oops. Sounds like some whinebox (probably an RA) ratted on me for some unknown reason! I've been sliding flyers underneath the doors of rooms here in the dorm advertising my computer services, support and products. I get flyers under my door all the time for campus-sponsored events and organizations, but to most people including myself, it's just spam! Even if it is 'Approved'! I'm providing products and services that, while also may not be applicable to everyone, it's sure as heck at least twice as applicable to other students here in the dorms than 'FREE PIZZA! Come listen to our guest speaker on The Endangerment of Porcupines at 7:30p!'. :| But I probably can't get my business approved.
So my question is this: as a business student who is learning about the free market, free enterprise and capitalism, who has a greater deal of I.T. knowledge than arguably 99% of the people in his dorm, who has a business he's started from the teachings he's learned from his business classes taught at that University, not be allowed to provide viable and worthwhile products and services that most other students need and want? Sounds like Communism to me- nobody can escape advertising. Not even the shorts on the butts of Olympic athletes. The Ass. Director told me he doesn't have a problem with me working on other's computers, but that private businesses cannot solicit on campus. Yet I'm a student. Or am I really any different? Do I have a case to call him up sometime and ask about these questions I have? The students have been responding very favorably to it and are thankful I'm there close by, with the stuff they need, will warranty it, with great prices and a smile. Am I the only one that sees something wrong here? :disgust:
