So I started a thread in general with the specs of a system I am looking at putting together: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2306797

The only part I am not overly sure of is the video card. Here is the info from the sticky:

System Specifications:

I. Processor/CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz

II. Current Graphics Card: Nvidia 8800 GT

III. Display Resolution: 1680 x 1050

IV. Power Supply Unit Specification: CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX650 V2 650W

V. Case Specifications: Corsair Carbide Series 200R Black Computer Case

Purchase Details:

I. Budget? Willing to spend $300 or less, preferably less

II. Any particular preferences: None, just want what is best for the money

III. Do you plan to have any Multi-GPU solutions such as Crossfire or SLI? No

IV. Have you previously looked at a product(s) which you feel would fit your needs? 660 TI, 7950, however wondering if they are overkill given my lack of desire to upgrade my monitor and my resolution requirements

V. What are your needs for this GPU? Which games(If any)do you intend to play? If you have this information at hand, what are the desired detail levels? SIMCITY, Battlefield

VI. Do you plan on overclocking the card you intend to purchase? No

My current system is going to get decommissioned as it is just too old (Athlon XP 2400) and I am going new, but I don't want to upgrade my monitor cause I am cheap and it works.

Want to get something good, but if I can shave some bucks on the video card cause it will be wasted at this resolution with this monitor (Lenovo POS 22" 6622-HB1) http://www.overstock.com/Electronics...3/product.html

Any info appreciated

Thanks

7950 for that amount of money. Will run games at that resolution well for quite a while.

You could always get a 7870 XT to save yourself some money if you feel the 7950 is overkill.

7950 is an awsome card ...i'm coming from a socket a athlon 3000+ with a HIS turbo 4670 1gb agp card..... with 2gb system ram haha to the system in my sig.....i'm llovin it....only modern games i've got to try i on so far are crysis 3 call of duty 4 and medal of honor warfighter...... the 7950 runs them so well at 1080p ultra settings......and overclocks like a dream ....cept my memory don't like a high memory clock for some reason...anywho look into getting a 7950 you won't be disappointed HIS iceX series are nice =D
