I recently picked up the v8 of the EXP GDC Beast, ExpressCard connect (ref: http://www.banggood.com/Expresscard...al-Independent-Video-Card-Dock-p-1009976.html).
My notebook is a Dell Latitude 5520 with an i7-2620m, Skylake series processor.
Video card: EVGA GeForce GTX 950 2GB SC
Power supply: 220 Asus DC adapter (from an older ASUS ROG notebook).
The card is seated in the GDC, 220 is plugged into GDC, and the 6pin is going out from GDC to EVGA. With the ExpressCard plugged in the card powers up when the notebook boots, but it is not being recognized (even as an unknown device) in device manager.
The cards max draw power is 110 (ref: http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2951-KR) so the 220 coming from the existing adapter should be sufficient.
Any thoughts on what might be my issue? And no, I don't currently have any desktop power supplies (or desktops) around to test with (most of my life is in "temporary" storage, the temporary part just keeps getting extended).
Absolutely useless details you don't need:
I got the adapter in able to do some casual gaming that my work designed notebooks can't handle. I have a 1 year old monster (sorry child), work full time, and am going back to school (transitioning out of a server admin role into more management/project lead and apparently technical certs don't cut it there...). So time and money to invest into a new gaming platform is of short supply - hence the hope for the eGPU.
