Hey Guys,

Long time browser, first time poster. I am hoping a few of you guys could point me in the right direction.

I just built a system, which I haven't done in many years (damn kids) and now I am starting to get back into gaming again.

Anyways, the system isn't performing like it should, I think.

Here is the system:

AMD A6-3650 @ 3.4Ghz
Hyper 212 EVO
Gigabyte GA-A74-UD4H
8GB gSkill 1866Mhz DDR3 Memory (2x4GB)
Crucial M4 128GB Drive
Dual XFX 6850s in a CF.
Windows 7 Pro
ThermalTake Armor VA8000BWS
(All Temps are good)

I know some might not like the build, but there were specific reason for it, so please understand that :)

In BF3 I am coming in at 30-35FPS in Ultra at 1600x900. Seems to be about the same in High

3dMark 11 (basic) says my score is low (I think it was about 5300, not sure exactly, this old man is going back to school). Can someone recommend a better program to get some more detailed scores? Or should I drop the $20 on the Pro version?

The system is quick, but I feel like it should be quicker.

Also an annoying thing that is driving me nuts, the Windows 7 screen when it starts to load, freezes up for 5 seconds or so. It is right when the 4 color dots appear and just start to swirl in. Can't be right.

I have swapped out the ram, I have went to no OC, I have did fresh Windows 7 install w/ newest drivers.

Any recommendations, benchmark software, or anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

BTW I can pretty much tell you, that BF3 loves 2 things on ultra...

*A fast CPU
*Lots of VRAM on your GPUs

Your CPU is what I would call "ok" and your GPUs will have 1GB vram I presume which just isn't enough for ultra or even high is certain circumstances.

When you say you are getting 30-35FPS are you talking about single or multiplayer btw

I don't think the frame rates you are seeing are very far from what I would expect to see TBH.

Do you have any headroom in your CPU overclock? If so you should see FPS improvements as you push the numbers higher. Keep in mind what I said about VRAM however, 2 x 1GB cards in CF just aren't going to cut it (while maintaining 60+ FPS) at ultra or even high in the big 64 player fights even at 1600 x 900.
