Assigning hot key functions and a keycap replacement question

After going thru two logictech G710+'s (larger keys break easy due to lousy or non-existent side supports), I just bought a Deck Hassium pro which appears to be quite rugged although noisy. I really miss the Logitech's volume knob though and to access the Deck's volume control requires the use of two hands to use the function key plus F3 or F4. First question, is there a utility out there which I can run in the background so that I can assign the keyboards F11 and F12 buttons to act as volume up and down controls without the need to simultaneously press another.

Second question. Oh that hideous Deck font! My vision is compromised to begin with and really having a hard time dealing with it. Any recommendations on a replacement keycap set, designed for backlit keyboards, with hopefully large text that can be read fairly easily with or without the lighting on? I saw a set of blue double shot TAO keycaps that looked kind of snazzy but they appear to let the light go thru the whole key, not just the text.
