Dunno if this is a windows or gpu question. So I have dvi going to my monitor and hdmi out to my tv on the same 6970. Is there any way to assign sound output to a specific monitor?

Like if I have a game running on my monitor sound automatically goes through my headphones or usb speakers, and if I drag a movie on the tv screen it only goes out through hdmi. Am I a noob or screwed?

Not sure if there is a way for Windows to automatically do this but its pretty easy manually. Just open Audio Devices and select Playback. You should have an AMD HDMI Output and Speakers option. When watching TV select HDMI as default and when listening to headphones, select Speakers.

I have the same setup btw. Not home enough to care about automating the process. Maybe somebody might chime in with a better option.

Yeah automating is what I'm looking for, it gets annoying having to switch primary devices a couple times a night. That and it would be nice to have speakers and hdmi doing different things at the same time.
