I would like to roll out an asset management system for a company with roughly 250 employees and roughly 125 computers and servers. Currently there is no method used. (My boss quit, i recieved a field promotion and i'm trying to set things right.) Can anyone reccomend a product that can manage a midsize business. I'm looking to control licensing, users assigned, procurements, and maybe trouble tickets or warranty issues on systems... I'm looking to apply asset tags to all equipment.
On the otherhand would it be better to design what i'm looking for from scratch in SQL or the like.

Avantis by Invensys is what my pulp mill uses. It has its quirks, but is pretty workable. Another option might be Ivara.

Avantis has a procurement module, maintenance, licensing, work orders etc ... it is pretty expensive as far as I know though. Avantis website
