No piston rings? What is this? Amateur hour?

I thought I saw rings when he was inserting the pistons. In fact I recall thinking at the moment that they must be made of pretty fine stuff.
 
must run on compressed air, didn't see spark plugs(or glow plugs if diesel) or fuel lines.

He said it's for indoor teaching so it's not designed to run. 1.5cc per cylinder is tiny though I suppose you could adapt glow plugs from COX engines for it, though there' not much room with those valve heads. It would probably run happily on steam though if it runs on compressed air.
