Of course I'm going to follow mechbgon's guide, but is there anything in particular I should be wary of as I put this thing together? Any useful tips not in his guide?

Try not to drool on the components, it's hard to avoid but still bad for them :|

I recomend doing it on a desk with a white sheet over it, easier to find lost bits that way, or the floor with a sheet but expect your back to hurt afterwards.

With the quality of items that you are getting i would invest in a better PSU. Something a Little higher end depending on your budget. OCZ, Antec, Enermax...
