Wonder how broken this one will be. Predicting at least four patches to get it reasonably playable, but remains somewhat broken indefinitely like everything Ubisoft puts out.

I don't predict any patches for playable. Unity was the only AC game I needed patches to play properly.

I've been playing this on the PS3. It's so similar to Black Flag that I doubt there will be many issues.

I uploaded a gameplay video of the first 52minutes of the game, for anyone that is interested.

Assassin's Creed Rogue - first 52 minutes PC Gameplay - GTX 970 maxed - 1080p 60fps

GTX 970 with maxed settings and OSD on top right so yo know about what gpu load power is needed.

CPU1 is pegged due to recording so if you need proper benchmarks recorded with an external recorder (so pure performance is shown), here they are (spicy wallpaper alert)

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920x1080 Maxed GTX 970 @1.5Ghz Core i5 2500k @4.8Ghz

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920x1080 Maxed GTX 570 @850Mhz Core i5 2500k @4.8GHz

(don't be fret by the title clocks, these are just my benchmark settings, game is playable at stock as well)

both can run it at 60fps, with different gpu loads of course (30% vs 80% for the mentioned clocks), but the fact of the matter is that the game is quite light. Lighter than Unity for sure and maybe even Black Flag.

I am also uploading 7950 and 5850 benchmarks of the same session.

The 7950 did also manage 60fps with 50% load at 1.1Ghz.

Surprisingly on the 5850 system (Q9550+5850) I did see some cpu limits while the same cpu had a lot lower cpu usage, when paired with my GTX 970.

More on that later/tomorrow.

I wish they would just drop the Assassin's Creed plot and create an original series based purely on the navel aspect of Black Flag.

I respect that Ubisoft still feels there is some life left in the series, but in my opinion the series has become a liability. The juxtaposition between the past and present worlds was a stretch to begin with, but now it feels forced and silly. No one gives a crap about the memory machine or what it means to the world. Desmond Miles has become a dangling accessory hanging from the mirror located in the car which is Assassin's Creed. Also, the characters of late are less and less Assassin-like and more like conventional anti-heroes. The plots are completely secondary to the action now. We need a new Assassin's Creed game about as much as we need another National Treasure. Just because you come up with new fancy location in which to stab things shouldn't in and of itself be enough to justify a new game.

The bottom line is that I'm completely done with the AC series. Every game feels more forced as the writers try to conceptualize reasons for us to care in the first place.

Black Flag was poor. I'll probably still play this but I'm definitely waiting until it comes down in price. I'm not paying full price for BF2.

Pretty much after AC3, the story seem to drop off I agree.
I will probably pick this up once it hits a sale as I see this more as an extension / old school expansion pack to Ac:Black Flag

Need to play more but so far no problems having a solid 60FPS all settings maxed with this 780Ti GHz @ 1215MHz in game. Slight dip to ~55 cutscenes. Runs way better than Black Flag and I won't mention the recent disaster AC. We need Templar Flag by now.

Ok so I finished uploading my Assassin's Creed Rogue "benchmarks".

Possibly, technically they are not exactly benchmarks, since the game is capped at 62.5 frames per second, so I included the gpu load in the desription of the links. The load is recorded with MSI Afterburner and shown at the end of the video (be warned for spicy wallpapers).

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920x1080 Maxed GTX 970 @1.5Ghz Core i5 2500k @4.8GHz 62.5fps ~ 35% gpu load

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920X1080 Maxed GTX 970 @1.5Ghz Q9550 @4GHz 60.5fps ~ 35% gpu load

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920X1080 Maxed 7950 @1.1Ghz CORE i7-860 @3.9GHz 60.6fps ~50% gpu load

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920x1080 Maxed GTX 570 @850Mhz Core i5 2500k @4.8GHz 62.4fps ~ 80% gpu load

Assassin's Creed Rogue 1920X1080 Maxed 5850 @950Mhz Q9550 @4GHz 56fps ~ 90% gpu load

What really peaked my interest though, is the direct comparison of cpu load I could do, on my Q9550, since I used both my 5850 and 970 on it.

Look at the cpu load of the processor in the two runs.

I believe it's a good example of AMD's driver cpu overhead.

Is this caused by the driver itself or the architecture?

I mean if I had a 290X and run the test again on the Q9550, I would get the same cpu overhead and the same cpu limit manifestation?
