Assassin's Creed Problem

I played the first couple hours of assassin's creed (not simultaneously) without a single problem.

All of a sudden; however, at the intro, whenever I initiate combat, whenever I pick up a flag, and whenever it changes scenes (Anytime the screen whites out or uses motion blur maybe?) the game stops.

The audio will sometimes continue while it loops the rest of the time.

I pulled up the performance monitor and had it log performance when this happens - whenever one of those events occur, my CPU Utilization drops back to idle.

I have no idea what is wrong. I have the latest drivers for the 8800GT, I haven't changed any settings (just started happening). None of the other programs are using up memory. Swap file isn't being accessed.

I have reinstalled the software, and I have rebooted the computer multiple times. I tried with no Anti-virus/Spy-ware protection.

Any ideas guys? I'm going to try and disable CnQ and see if that does anything.

have u tried turning off the GPU throttling on the bio? on my bios it was the C1E option i think, and also theres a thermal throttling option.

if it is your GPU that does that it might be the drivers. the first drivers out for the GTX260 made it switch from 2d to 3d mode every few second
