Looks good to me, I really like the overall story arc of the series but I didn't expect an announcement of another Assassin's Creed game so soon.

They need to stop going back in time. I mean we already found out the secrets of Minerva etc. Why are we going back again?

Also, pirates? Probably the worst part of AC3 was the sea battles. Absolutely dreadful.

The naval battles were the best part of AC3 so I guess Ubisoft just took that and ran with it.

I'll agree that Assassin's Creed has run its course. AC2 and Brotherhood were both very good games. Revelations I just breezed through and I stopped playing AC3 because it got very boring very fast.

I'm a sucker for Assassin's Creed games. Something about them just meshes well with me. This must be what it's like for all the CoD addicts, as I gladly look forward to my yearly installment of the series.

No way...it was as bad as the tower defense was before. Absolutely stupid.

I got bored playing AC:B after I captured all the Borgias towers. That felt like the actual "fun part" of the game, so once I captured the last one and trained all my assassins to master assassin, I just stopped playing. The story just wasn't that interesting. :\

i havent played 3 yet due to ubisoft and steams messing around meant it wasn't available on steam in the UK on release. will wait for a sale now. will probably look forward to this too

Eh... too many too quickly. I liked AC2 a ton, liked Brotherhood less (didn't finish it) and liked Revelations even less (half way through maybe?). AC3 seems better because it's a new time period with a new character, but also because more time was put into it. I remember reading it was being developed alongside Brotherhood and Revelations, so it had more total time dedicated to it. AC4 will be a slightly different location/time period with different characters, but I'm worried it'll have the same issues as Brotherhood and Revelations. They just felt rushed and less polished overall (even on the consoles).

I'm sure I'll get it for cheap eventually like I did with Revelations, but this won't be the early buy that AC3 was for me.

The delay between the release of AC and AC2 is what made them better games. After a huge twist of an ending with AC, you had to wait 2 years to find out more. When AC2 did the same thing, by the time most people had played the game, AC:B was announced.

I didn't play AC:B until after AC:R was released, and I haven't even thought about playing AC3 yet. And I loved this series at one point. They are clearly making a lot of money with yearly releases, so they won't change. It feels overdone for me, and I gave up on it. It feels like watching episodes of DBZ at this point.

I want to get an AC game for my 360. I didn't play the first but watched my brother play it a bunch.

Should I start with AC2?

Also, tell me about the free roaming in the games. Is there enough to do to keep it interesting if you want to go off the main path?

First one sucks, just read about the plot and don't play it.

The game is pretty much completely open with a decent amount of side stuff you can do before continuing on the main game. Though the maps are area limited at first and only open up through the main game, but I think this leads to better pacing as it makes you get back to the main game every once in a while.

The first Assassin's Creed felt more like a tech demonstration with a story tacked on. I remember how they were talking about all the climbing tech and such before the game came out, and I get the feeling that they focused the most on getting that stuff to work right. With the second one, they had all the technical stuff down, so they could focus on polishing the engine and adding a good story with likable characters.

I seriously hated the first game. I don't know why anyone that played that one would ever want to play another one again.

The story was so bad in the first one, I haven't played another. I don't care how cool the fight cinematics look because I know the game won't look like that and I don't have faith the story will be anything except awful.
