ah cool, now maybe I will eventually, some years from now, continue on from AC II.

...was there some game between AC II and AC III that is "necessary"?

There was not any fully games in between but the two expansions to II, but been a while since i played them so cant say how "necessary"

Thanks OP. Didn't even realize I already have a Ubi account...with ACII in it. I'm getting old. But now I have ACIII

I'm going to guess that Europeans grabbed all of today's 300 free games. If you click on today's giveaway it's already moving you to the Watchdogs 2 wallpaper.

Does this game have horrendous mouse input like the Ezio games? I couldn't even play those on PC because of the acceleration. AC1 had pixel skipping, but at least there was no acceleration.

I had to go with an XBox gamepad for AC II because KB/M for this game is completely non-functional. But I feel that these type of action games were really designed for gamepad button mapping anyway, so I just default to that. I trudged through Batman AA with the KB/M because I didn't have a gamepad at the time, but knowingly missed out on a lot of the gameplay there (various combos and things like that...so you kinda lose the "Action" feel of such games). That being said, I've finally realized how awful analog controls are for movement with these jumping and climbing games-It seems to me there is still significant input lag, but also less "directional resolution"--there's probably some word for that, which I don't know. Still, I prefer the button mapping on gamepads for these games.

I just got the game. I went through the client because the website is broken on Edge and Chrome both for me.

I remember buying Far Cry 3 on Steam when it was on sale. But, I found out after installing that it required me to login to Ubisoft's UPLAY DRM service. I was like, no. So I asked for a refund.

yes I know Steam itself contains DRM - that is exactly why I don't support anything that needs me to login to anything other than Steam when playing a game. That includes GFWL.

Went through all the trouble of remembering how to log in to my ubiplay account (which I haven't used for years, since getting a game there free with some hardware - though I've never got round to playing it). Then took an age to download my free ACIII. Then realised I already had it on Steam (having bought it in some sale and never got round to playing it either!).
I don't really play games, I just accumulate them!

No, which is kind of the point. Let GFWL and UPlay die.
Actually, no, we need more players, not less. Steam is running over everyone, and once they get too big, they become a monopoly, and everyone will get screwed.

The only thing we need less of is DRM.

I'm fine with more storefronts, each with their own DRM. What I will not accept for any reason is multiple redundant DRMs that require me to sign in order to play one game.

Let's use the example of playing Far Cry 3 on Steam. In order to do so, I need to sign into Steam and also sign into uPlay. Without both, I cannot play the game.

With all of the other games that I own, signing into my Steam account is enough to prove I own a valid copy of the game. Not so with Ubisoft games, I also need to sign into their stupid UPlay service.

It seems that Ubisoft still doesn't get the whole DRM thing anyway - they have recently announced that For Honor has always online DRM even in single player mode.

Because of their DRM stance, I will never buy a Ubisoft game, even on sale.

So apparently you can just grab a bundle with seven games (The Crew, ACIII, PoP, Splinter Cell, FC3Blood Dragon, Rayman Legends, ?) for free. You don't need to go back each day to get the individual titles.

That's a contradiction. Steam and it's clones are DRM, so more of them = more DRM.
The Galaxy client (GOG) has no DRM and is an attempt at being like steam and the rest of them.

Yeah, in case you missed them before, this is your final chance to pick of these titles.
