Assassin's Creed 2

Why is there no thread about this game? Is no one else excited for this? I've got high hopes for it, but haven't seen much footage or info about it, so maybe everyone else knows something I don't.

I think the reason I'm looking forward to it so much is that there really haven't been any games all year that have come out that I've looked forward to besides Borderlands (which I bought and played through) and MW2 (which I decided was a waste of money on PC).

It seems though from what I've seen that Ubisoft is trying to do right everything they did wrong in the first one, so hopefully we don't end up with a whole lot of new problems. I'd like to see a good balance of weapons mostly. In the first one, ignoring the repetetive combat, the throwing knives were so easy to fight with compared to the others than I ended up using them all the time. I'd like to have to use different weapons throughout the game.

I also saw the commercial on tv, and It looked like Wii graphics or something, but it's not being released for Wii. I'm assuming this is just the usual case of video games looking crappy on tv.

i'll wait. remember what happened last time we got excited for AC? the first one was the biggest letdown for me....

I fell asleep playing the first one and never finished it, can we expect more swan diving from high vantage points into wagons covered with straw?

i liked the first but it needed some story and deeper combat. hopefully they'll fix that with this one. combat looks a lot better, i just have my doubts that they'll include any kind of decent story to keep me playing.

loved the first one, but doubt i will pay full price for this game.

Here's my issue. Based on the first AC:

Story = reasonably short
Gameplay = fun but repetitive
Replay value = 0

The only games I'll consider buying new are games with good replay value. Forza 3, Modern Warfare 2, a game that I can put enough hours into to get my "money's worth" out of it. I've already got like 24 hours into FM3 and alot into MW2 and I know both of those are going to go way up, I can't justify spending $60 on a game that I'll play through once for 8-12 hours.

For $60, I would have felt ripped off on the first game. It just gets so repetitive and the story doesn't do enough to keep me going. Another game I bought that I'll never finish.

The first AC kind of put me to sleep. I found it tedious more then anything else, especially all the wading through the crowds and being accosted by bums. Bizarre story, broken combat. I think it was a bold idea but they just didn't execute it vary well. I never finished it.

I don't know what the second one will be like but I'm certainly not holding my breath. It will probably be a rental for me.

It costs $8 to rent a PS3 game here. If a game doesn't do a good enough job impressing me to buy it, I'll never play it. I could get Gamefly, but there's just not enough games I care to rent to bother with it.

I was looking forward to picking this up after work all day. When I got to Walmart I realized that it's the 16th. 🙁

Why aren't there reviews up on the web yet? They can't post them until tomorrow? It seems strange for such a big release to have it locked down till the street date.

Remember Uncharted 2? The reviews were out weeks before...

Turns out I must have preordered this, as Amazon sent a message saying it shipped. I really like the first one, but after like the 7th assassination I just stopped playing. I do however look forward to the second one. It looks like they added enough variety to the sequel that it shouldnt feel repetitive.

Everybody is different. Left 4 Dead 2 only has one review out as and it is from the same place that did the only Assassin's Creed 2 review...other than the demo reviews.

I'm tempted to rent both Assassin's Creed 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 tomorrow with my rent 1 get 1 free. Especially since I have all of next week off.

let us know about AC2, i wanted it but im too cheap =)

Is it out today or tomorrow? I know the release date is Tuesday, but usually only "big games" are actually in stores on Tuesday... I'm not sure if AC2 would deserve that treatment. I know if I want to rent it my only chance is on release day.

The live action prequel on Spike was excellent. It perfectly captured the fight choreography, and set the intrigue rolling.

I too, am among those that liked the first. The combat system definitely needed enhancing. However, I did like that your position relative to an adversary, influenced things.

I rent 80 percent of my games now, so this is definitely a try before I buy. The first just did not have enough content to warrant purchasing it.

Not sure. Which is why I'm going out in just a couple of minutes to see. 🙂

I traded in a few games to amazon, and along with the $20 GC I got for pre-ordering MW2, I have enough to get a new game. I was thinking of Dragon Age, but this game looks like a good improvement over the first.

I never finished the first one either, and I'm not sure it's something I want to pay full price for. Guess I'll wait for a few reviews and see what they say.

Edit- IGN just put up their review: http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/104/1045745p1.html

Well, Blockbuster had this along with Left 4 Dead 2 today. So I rented both with my rent 1 get 1 free coupon. Then the clerk kindly reminded me of the change of policy that charges you $1 a day when you keep games out longer than 5 days.

Crap. Blockbluster is always cutting back on their offerings.
