I keep seeing how they pump out one Assasin's Creed title after another like crazy... Seriously, it's been a while since I seen a company release this many iterations of the same game in such a short period of time. It must be like what.. 5 titles by now? Tomb Raider and Thief comes to mind...

From what I remember, the 1st Assasin's Creed was reviewed favorably, but had plenty of critics as well. Perhaps a little too much. I kinda skipped that one, and everyone there after because I figured it's just another Tomb raider type game(been there, done that).

Is there a lot more to Assasin's Creed? It it worth it for me to buy these 4-5 titles when they are available in one big cheapo package on Steam?

I bought a few of them, only played through the first one..its long and repetitive... The pc versions have extra side tasks, making the game very tedious if your hte kind of person who must complete everything.

id say for cheap sure, it works with the 360 controller

I played a little of the 2nd and 3rd, but I only own the first one. They did greatly expand things in the 2nd, but I just couldn't stick with it. I think it's a good game, but I just wasn't digging the story. The game play is fun though, I would definitely recommend picking them up for cheap.

There are 3 AC games that have been released on the PC with the fourth one released at the end of the month. 4 games released over a span of 5 years is a decent amount, but still doesn't reach Call of Duty level.

AC1's biggest criticism is that it got to be quite repetitive. AC2 and AC:B are huge improvements in this area. Personally, I love the series.

The story is decent, however, progressing through it requires that you play through some pretty repetitive stuff before seeing any real movement. I did beat both AC1 and 2, which was accomplished by taking weeks off at a time after getting bored. I have AC brotherhood for xbox360 and have put in about 5 hours so far but I just can't seem to muster up the excitement to actually finish it.

Now with Revelations I see you play the same characters again.. I was hoping we'd get a new character to play during a different time period. Shit's getting old IMO.

The games do get repetitive, but I like the game mechanics and the setting. I haven't finished the first one, but did finish 2 and Brotherhood. I dont particularly care about the story, but I could free run in the city and platform on the architecture for hours at a time. They do a really good job on these games for yearly iterations.

AC1 was a little rough, it was more like a test of concept then anything else. The main problem was that it was too repetitive.

AC2 was much better because they added what the first one was missing while still retaining what made the first one fun.

If you only played the first one, you're doing yourself a disservice. Pick up two AND Brotherhood - they're great games.

Agreed. It's one of the few series that has really held my attention and has me looking forward to seeing what comes next.

That said, I did have a little TOO much fun getting, umm, "acquainted" with the locals in Assassins Creed 1:

AC1 was boring and uninteresting. I stopped playing it soon after getting it.

AC2 and AC:Brotherhood on the other hand are outstanding! The story is engaging, the gameplay mechanics are solid, and the cities are a ton of fun to run around in. If you're judging this series purely on the first game, you're missing out on a very good series. I can't wait to pick up AC3 and finish the story!

I need to do a few more things in Brotherhood myself (like find all the hidden clues on the buildings, I don't think I found a single one of them! Either they changed what I am looking for in Brotherhood from AC2, or they are just really well hidden. I guess I should just cheat at this point and look online for some help....).

I thought they were much better hidden in Brotherhood than in AC2. I had to resort to a walkthrough guide on where to find them, not to mention having to refer to the solutions to each puzzle online.

Bought AC1, hated it, so rentedAC2, but still couldnt get into it. didnt bother with AC3 other than read some reviews. will probably do the same with AC4. I wish they would do a graphic novel so I can get a hang of the plot...

I play it for the story. Ezio is one cool dude. Not sure how I'll feel about the older Ezio though. I personally want it to continue. I heard rumors that there'd be an AC set in Japan? I heard this like 2 years ago though.

Sick of Ezio now.

I wish they would jump to a different time. Like Imperial Rome or Japan 500 years ago. I always thought that was the strength of the series - that they could easily change settings and jump around in history.

But I guess it's just easier to lazily churn out a game every year and roll around in money.

I could never get past the monotony that was the first one, so I've never played any of the others. I'm sure they're good, I just could never get into them... :(
