While I don't care how it looks, it has some rather unique features...

it comes with a detachable 2-in-1 dongle that may either serve as a travel access point (AP) or an HDMI dongle with 2T2R 11n WiFi for projecting your handheld device's screen onto an HDMI compliant monitor, otherwise known as Miracasting.
...
it can learn the infrared codes of other devices such as televisions, air conditioners or video game consoles. Allowing users to remotely control those aforementioned devices using the ASRock Router APP on a mobile phone or tablet, or even simultaneously streaming and gaming on multiple devices

However, I can't find what chipset it is using, anyone know?

Probably just another overpriced consumer router that can't even get close to gigabit speeds because it's bloated with useless features.

Doesn't that imply that your router has to be in line of sight of any device you want to control with it?
I guess this is a device for people who live in a circular studio apartment.

Sounds like a standard gimmicky router.
