I just upgraded my PC from an Athlon XP 2500+@2.2ghz on an Abit NF7-S.

I purchased an ASRock775Dual-VSTA mb and a Core2Duo 6400.

When I first installed windows and all of the drivers. I tried to install a game, WoW and Dawn of War, and they both error out during the install process. If I surf the internet while they are trying to install I randomly get a blue screen. The crash of the install program happens at various points during the process but never takes more then a few minutes.

I am looking for help on BIOS settings to improve stablity of the board. I got this board so I would not have to spend the money on new ram and video card all right now.

I am going to try turning off the raid and installing just to single drives.
I am also going to try swapping some ram with my OCZ PC3200 Platinum Rev2.

Any advise on BIOS settings would be appreciated.

Thank You,

Well I tried everything but updating the bios and nothing has helped.

It seems to even have gotten worse.

I don't feel safe updating the bios when the system keeps crashing trying to install windows.

A failed bios update, that showed to be sucessfull until a reboot, on my NF7-S is what caused this upgrade to happen.

I am at a loss.

Any suggestions on either a different board for the Core2Duo that can run agp and ddr. Or a reasonably affordable new video card board and ram.
Current video card is 6800Ultra so I would want to stay atleast at that performance level.

Thank you,

I'm not sure this board does RAID reliably. Have you considered running it in non-RAID mode?

See if you can change the memory timings in the bios. Locate the cmos jumper on the board, in case the board won't post. Just move it over one position, and return to the previous position to reset the bios to default. Write down the settings as you go, until you get some that work well with your game. I would also try a different version of directx. Removing the current version can be tricky, but software is available. Unless your video card is almost new, I would go with an older version of directx or one that came with your video card cd.
