Hot off the heals of the Z77 Ex4, the Z87 Ex4! For those uninitiated, the Z77 Extreme 4 was one of the best Z77 boards for the price. It had nearly all the features of boards twice its price. I would often find the board for $100 on sale at NE and have built almost two dozen systems with it, absolutely love it. I've tried the Z77 Extreme 9 and Asus Z77 Premium and find the Extreme 4 to still be my favorite. It's even arguably better than the Ex6 bigger brother due to its better USB3.0 controller.
**First Impressoins** 6/24/13 Just finished building my i5 rig. Initial impressions are the Extreme6 is extremely feature packed. It has almost every feature you could ask for. Now for the bad stuff. I'm getting hangs in the UEFI Bios (1.3) when i try to move the mouse. Its an older logitech VX i connected to the USB2 slot in the back. I've also noticed that the new Z87 Ex6 has a really thin PCB, so thin in fact the Corsair H60 back bracket needed spacers or it would just slide around. I will be assembling an i7 4770k rig with the z87 ex6 in a few days and will see if i get the same issues.
6/25/13 Found new beta BIOS 1.6. Will try it on new build this weekend. http://download.asrock.com/TSD/Z87 Extreme6_ac(P1.60A)WIN.zip
Here are the enhancements the Z87 Extreme 4 has over the the predicessor. I will assemble a chart for the other ASrock Z87 line as I find more info. Launch price looks to be about $160, which is close to the Z77 Ex4 launch price of $155.
Extreme 4 Currently $160
+ Displayport (awesome, 2560+ resolution support!)
+ HDMI Pass through
+ "Purity Sound" (Realtek ALC1150 can't hurt! from 109db to 115db SNR)
+ 2x USB 3.0 Headers + Vertical USB Port on the motherboard (Readyboost GO Lol)
+ upgraded mosfets to LFPAK (more efficient, half the size, everyone complained about the DPak on the z77)
+ Intel Gigabit NIC (Yay!)
+ Waterproof (perfect for if my rabbit gets into the computer again!)
Extreme 6 Currently $170
+ Dual Intel Gigabit
+ miniPCIe slot
+ 10 SATA 6 (4 via ASmedia chip)
+ Front USB 3.0 3.5bay
+ Manual BIOS select switch
- VGA Port
+ DVI-I DL port (analog support)
- 1x PCI-E port
*Toms Hardware has new z87 roundup. Mostly shows ASrock is again using lower power than competitors, o/cing is about middle of the pac.
Another review just went up http://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/zardon/asrock-z87-extreme-6-review-w-4770k-gtx770/
