ASRock Z77 Professional vs ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE

I am in the process of purchasing a new processor (i7-2700K). I want the best over all motherboard to pair up with it. I plan on Overclocking the processor and cooling it with a Noctua NH-D14. I will have (4) modules of G Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB DDR3-2133 (4x4GB), a GIGABYTE GV-R687OC-1GD video card, and a CORSAIR Professional Series HX1050 power supply all in a In-Win Dragon Rider case.

The 2 motherboards that I have picked out are the ASRock Z77 Professional and the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE. They both seem like great, rock solid motherboards. Does anyone have knowledge of either of these boards and possibly some pros/cons of either/both?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

DK - Thanks for your quick response. The Maximus V is a micro board... and I have a full size case. Can you explain what that board has that should sway me from the feature packed full size boards I listed?

After watching that NeweggTV demonstration of ASUS' Fan Xpert 2, that alone has almost swayed me completely away from the Gigabyte UD5H I was considering, which is $85 cheaper.

aaksheytalwar - I see that you are currently using the ASUS Z77 Deluxe... and by your comments, really like it. Is there anything about the board/company that you don't like? Any knowledge of the ASRock Z77 Professional? Yeah, I could save about $50 on the ASRock, but if the ASUS is that much better, then I'll spend the money.

DarkRogue - I was also considering the Gigabyte UD5H, but after a lot of research, cut it in favor of the ASRock Z77 Professional and the ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE. I really like Gigabyte motherboards and usually purchase them... currently have the EX58-UD5.

I don't know ,but on ocn someone asked if 50c was ok, but no set up info, so useless.
maybe Don can chime in , on his temps.

Thanks everyone for your input... I just purchased the i7-2700K and ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE.

Congrats JFC15! 😀

Thanks Don! That's pretty good. I have a terrible air-flowing case 800D and an X58 760 EVGA board. Regardless the X58 systems run warm to hot. I recently changed my fans around to accommodate a quieter living man cave and it took all the air flow off my VREGs. I did some minor adjusting on my fans and I max out at 47*C and idle around 41*C in 71 ambients. Thanks for the info! 🙂

Maybeyou could tell us your overall impresion about this board. Do the "little premiums" work as advertised?
I'm planning to buy the same board, the DLNA feature being one of them. I must say it makes me drool thinkung I can stream videos on my future smart TV without any cable.
I hate cables. 🙄

Hope you don't make the same mistake I did. I figured I could install all boards, etc. after the MB was installed into the case & everything cabled up. Unfortunately, I didn't install the little WiFi device before installing everything else. That doesn't work, because you have to attach the device with a screw from the bottom of the board, and also the connection for the antenna need to stick out through the holes in the case. So at some point I will need to disasemble system to install the
WiFi device...
