Hey guys,

I made a new simple gaming pc a copple of weeks ago, everything works fine ecxept for the audio.
My IT friends and I cant fix it, so maybe you can help.

I did a clean windows install and today i downloaded the newest realtek audio software because I thought, maybe thats the problem. But its not.
The Speaker output, the realtek digital output and the Intel audio all seem to work, but i dont hear any sound.
I also enabled the HDMI HD Audio in the bios and unplugged the case frontpanel audio to try out all the audio connectors at the rear op the pc.

Does somebody know how to fix this, because i hope so.

Thank you in advance

You can install the software to show that all the audio features are installed and working properly -- it would show up in the Device Manager tree.

There are two ways to connect a speaker-set that has 3.5mm stereo plugs. You can connect at the I/O panel at the case-rear of the motherboard, or you can connect using front-panel 3.5mm "green" and "pink" stereo plugs. Either way, sometimes the pink microphone plug can be reconfigured for something else, but I'd investigate that further because I could be wrong.

So the first thing I'd ask: If you had been connecting headphones at the front-panel, did you connect the HD-Audio cable from the case front-panel to the motherboard? With the front-panel earphones/speakers disconnected, are you saying that the rear I/O speaker connection (green) doesn't work? Did you check the knobs, settings and power-switch on the speaker assembly? If it's not the software, not the connections and not the speaker assembly, and you've tweaked the Realtek configuration software as much as you can, then you may consider that there's something defective between the onboard audio electronics and the the I/O plate. If that's the case, then you can purchase a PCIe x1 sound-card, and turn off the HD-Audio in the BIOS.

Options ranging from $40 to $200+

Another thing -- how is the HD-Audio configured in BIOS? Could it be that you selected the output that is wrong for the speaker connections? There is 3.5mm stereo "HD-Audio", HDMI, and Optical or Digital. That's maybe another thing to check.

I'm no audio expert, but I would work through and weigh against each other different options and possibilities there.

One of the reasons "the Old Hands" and "Veterans" here favor the old paradigm of desktop PCs derives from the original concept: ISA, EISA, PCI and then PCIe ports to choose your own hardware for a custom-system. When selecting a motherboard, I used to weigh all of the "extra features" carefully, and decide which to disable before building the system. I've had motherboard NICs fail so that I disabled them in BIOS and purchased PCI/PCIe replacements; I've chosen sometimes to use a Creative Labs Audigy or SoundBlaster card instead of onboard audio.
