Hello there I've bought ASRock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard like two days ago and it has arrived today so I installed everything by the manual without any further issues I think. The problem is that it won't boot (I mean it's probably booting but I can't see it). Everything on the board seems to work just fine fans are spinning, HDD is working, no beeps etc. Before I had pretty old motherboard and quite old power supply 550W (actually not so old) and at this part I realised it might be the issue because as you can see on this picture (http://i.imgur.com/OMJ79.jpg) Extreme4 is running at 8-pins (CPU power connector) but my old motherboard had only 4-pins as you can see on this picture (http://i.imgur.com/wP5gB.jpg). Every forum says "8-pin is only necessary for extreme overclocking or a really power-hungry processor". I really don't know and any help would be highly appreciated.

EDIT: Also I should have mentioned that my PSU is: LC POWER LC6550GP2-v2.2 550W/140mm/Black Giant Silent and RAM is: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile Black 8GB (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)

Cheers,
n00pe.

4pins is enough. And you remember all 24pins in the main power conenctor?

Are you using discrete GFX or onboard? And if so, what did you connect to?

I've quite an old 9800GT (which is fully working - I tried it on different mobo) and I'm using VGA. I've tried connecting it right to the port on motherboard with same result.

I come up with two options.

1) Get my friend over here with his memory (which should be compatible with my brand new motherboard) and let him install the newest BIOS from official site (which should fix the compatibility issue between motherboard and my Corsair RAMS) on my pc.

2) Return the RAMS to the E-shop where I bought them within 14 days and get a brand new one Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB (KHX1866C9D3K2/8GX) which is listed as compatible memory for this type of motherboard on official ASRock website.

What do you guys think?

Else also try remove the discrete card and use the mobos onboard GFX. See if any difference.

Also got speaker connected so you can hear any error beeps?

The speaker is connected to the motherboard and yes for first time it gave me error code in this little LED panel (they call it Dr.Debug) 55 which stands for memory error. I've tried different slots and on 3rd slot the beep has dissapeared. Anyways I've tried removing the discrete card and as I said same result. There is no mobo onboard GFX on this motherboard from what I've read on official site.

The Extreme4 has a handy debug display that should tell you if there's any problem. The manual also shows how to plug in a 4-pin CPU.

I just put a system together with this board 3 days ago. First boot, the video was coming from the onboard DVI. After that it seemed to recognize the graphics card and the display was coming through it.

EDIT: Your post came while I was typing.

The CPU itself has the graphics built in, and the motherboard has the display ports. What CPU are you using with the board?

I think the 4-pin and everything is pretty much okay but the rams are not. What rams do you have may I ask?

Clear the CMOS. Asrock tests their motherboards before shipment and if you have a different hardware config it won't post. (For some reason they don't clear the CMOS) That has happened to every ASrock board I have bought as of late.

I used that button like 2 or 3 times actually without any further luck.

G.Skill Sniper, 8GB (2x4gb) [http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16820231461]

I also made an edit to my previous post.

God that sucks I can't get G.Skill in my country but I was thinking about Kingston HyperX Genesis 8GB (KHX1866C9D3K2/8GX) which should be 100% compatible with this motherboard. I'm pretty sure the Corsair rams that I've would work as well but I need somehow to update my BIOS. To answer your question I'm using 3570k with a stock cooler.

How many sticks of ram and which slots are you using? Going by your link it should be 2 sticks. You want to use either slots 1 and 3 or 2 and 4. Make sure they're really seated all the way. Though if you're not showing any debug errors they're probably set.

First time I've tried it with only one stick and every single slot first two slots gave me errors the third one was ok. From what I've read from the manual the ideal placing is slot 2 and 4 for the OC.

EDIT: Oh yeah I'm using only two sticks.

I'm still kinda doubtful about the 4-pin CPU power with the 8-pin motherboard socket if that's not the issue it gotta be memory..

You don't really NEED 1866, but it won't hurt anything. You could look for some 1600 that's on the list, it's likely a bit cheaper.
