I need to replace a mobo and I am not going with ASRock. 3 Sata ports not working right out of the box.
Budget -$200

This is a "HTPC", hooked to my plasma TV.

Needs:
ATX LGA1155
6GBs sata
USB 3.0 header (case has usb 3.0 on front)
5.1 audio with spdif out (don't care for my current sound card)

I did like the BIOS menus with the asrock board, very easy to use.

Specs
Win 8 Pro 64 bit
ASRock Z77 Pro3
i7-3770
16 GB PC1600
GTX 660Ti
HX520 PSU
Silverstone SST-LC10B

verify that the sata cables themselves aren't defective first... I had similar experience but eventually determined the cause was a faulty sata cable, mobo was fine

I'd recommend the Asus. I've been running the P8X77-V LX model (which meets all your criteria) for several months now with 0 problems. I don't use the internal sound, but the board has a higher end Realtek part that should work fine for you. I would have liked more than two SATA 3 ports, but my WD Caviar Blacks don't even saturate the SATA 2 ports, so it's not a big deal. Blu-rays look really good on the integrated HD4000 GPU.

Flashed the bios but it didn't help. But I did find the problem while rooting around. I just started from square one and started pulling components out of the case to make sure the mobo wan't shorted. The modular cable coming from the power supply wasn't fully seated. When I tried different power connectors I was changing out the adapters that went from the 4 pin to sata power. It was the 4 pin modular cable that wasn't seated. :$
