Hi folks,

First post here, hope I a in the right place for the thread, ok so I have bought an ASRock X79 Extreme 6 and Intel i7-4930k combo.

I am trying to find uefi settings for this combo but fresh outta luck, I am using BIOS version 3, I run a Corsair H100i liquid cooler on the CPU and that did my last i72600k @ 4.9ghz very nicely.

Ok so I am struggling to use the auto or EZ OC at 4.6, 4.8 forget it but 4.6 is struggling, the fixed voltages are like 1.45 and that to me is too high for sure, ok so guys, can anyone or does anyone know of the uefi settings I should be manually dialing into this combo?

I am aiming for 4.8 eventually but just not having success, with this combo, the i7-2600k and Z68 Extreme 4Gen3 board I had prior was a cinch, this is not looking so good, I ummmmed and arrrred about this upgrade and I am not reaping 4.6 without high voltages and 4.8 forget it.

Could anyone please help me and share your expertise with the main uefi settings I should be dialing in?

Many thanks in advance guys :)

Cheers Mat

You may end up being disappointed, Ivy Bridge (particularly the 6 cores) doesn't normally clock as well as Sandy Bridge did. Around 4.5-4.7GHz seems to be about as far as people tend to be getting on the 49xx chips without extreme cooling.

Yeah I not gather that with the IVY-B I have managed guys to get 4.6ghz using a backclock at 1.424 Volts stable sits at 30 degrees idle and 65 degree under load, thanks guys all very much for your help, greatly appreciated.

inspectagame, VERY nice OC. I agree with YBS1.
Let's be fair. The 2600k has 4cores/8threads and the 4390k has 6cores/12threads. You are throwing a LOT more heat off eventhough your Ivy bridge runs cooler than my Sandy Bridge E 3930k.

To run these 6core/12 thread Monsters any faster than you are calls for custom water cooling (I have it see below). I can push my 3930k to 4.8 with more vcore and get more "benchmark performance" but practically speaking I'm just generating more heat for a bit more performance.

I suspect your cpu cooler, good for a AIO, might be pushed too hard to support 4.8Ghz on a 4390k or you have to up the voltage higher. Either way the heat is too much.

If you are getting those temps on a 4.6Ghz 4930k for long runs with a Corsair 100i, I would stop and be VERY HAPPY!

Yep your right and fair call, I will sit on this for sure, I am getting a noticeable performance gain overall from the Hex Core Vs teh Quad for sure so very happy, thanks again guys :)

ispectagome, you are welcome.

Trust me a 4.6Ghz 4930k is a POWERFUL cpu. I know the power of my 4.6Ghz 3930k and you have a more powerful cpu.

If a game isn't running fast enough, I venture to say it's not because of your cpu!

Hey guskline, yes totally agree, no games run flawlessy, I am looking to better the quality of my youtube output, thats my end game/result, so always looking for ways to push things, yes I am very happy with upgrading to the 4930k from the 2600k, for sure, thanks mate :)
