So did you get this great deal from a person selling only one, or from a server resale etailer? Many people abuse those chips before finding one they want to keep. You may have gotten one with a burnt out IMC.

I don't think my bios is anything like the "Supercomputer" Asrock bios but my EVGA board was very flakey, knock on wood. It's been stable ever since I installed a W3690 in it. I don't think it's related but maybe I learned something along the way. I've rarely messed around in this Asrock machine for overclocking. It's my daily machine so I keep everything running at stock for data integrity. I do however have the CPU VTT set to 1.2v If I leave my CPU VTT on Auto on the EVGA board it runs the voltage at some crazy volts like 1.4v or something stupid. That's why I suggested to manually set the volts you are comfortable with.
