Morning All,

I have a serious issue and need some Anand...Tech support. I build my "smoking" machine yesterday and when I powered it on, I got nothing..all the fans are operational, the message center on the board scrolls through the boot sequence, but I get nothing on the display.

I plugged in the speaker and I get 8 short beeps. I did a quick search of the ASRock website and found a very old post that describes the eight beeps (dont know if it is even the same bios) as a "Display Memory Error"

I bought the board and video card from Newegg, and I already have a RMA for the card thinking that was the problem, but since I don't have another PCI-E card to check, I wanted to ask you guys.

The video card is the XFX 5870.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

System:
Case: CoolerMaster Scout
HDD: Baracuda 7200.12 1TB
PowerSupply: PSU CORSAIR-1000HX
CPU: i7 920
MB: ASRock Extreme
Memory: OC Gold Tri-Channel
Video Card: XFX|HD-587A-ZNF9 HD5870 1G RT

I went and bought a second PCI E card to check. I got the same error. I pulled all connectors to the MB, pulled the memory out and reinstalled them into the same slots, plugged in just the power switch and got the same errors:

When it hangs, it is displaying the error code 2E "Initializes all the output devices" Then after that, it runs through some other codes I get a delayed single beep and it shows "00"

Now I really don't know what to do. Since I tried another brand new VC, I think I have a dead Motherboard.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, I put the memory in the "white" slots. It appears to be a DOA motherboard.

I have already shipped it back to Newegg via RMA.
