I'm looking for a cheap good working configuration, one of the boards that i see in almost
every shop are the cheap asrock boards, but why does nobody tested those boards.
here on anandtech or on toms place and more others i couldn't find anny review about them.
I would like to know if it are good boards or that you run into troubles using them.
Offcourse i know you can't compare them with exspensive Asus boards, but i'm just wondering
how good they are, and if its worth to try.

I've been using the K7S8KE Rev. 3.0 (SiS 748) since last September and I absolutely love it. I picked it up on Newegg for like $50 and free shipping and it's been kind to me. I'm just recently experimenting with the great overclocking options the 3.0 revision offers (Hybrid Booster). My particular board only goes up to 400MHz FSB though so you may want to jump up in products if you're planning on using faster memory.

You're right though...there aren't many reviews out there but you can find a couple if you look around. Here's a good one (on my particular board) that I found. Note, this is the 1.0 and not the 3.0 review but it at least gives you a good idea of what others think:

ASRock Mobo Review

You can actually find a good bit of info on them if you Google some particular models you're interested in. In my opinion, you're pretty much getting an Asus board but at a budgeted priced. I'm pleased and would probably buy another one. The lack of info on these boards is probably my only negative against it.

They're not benchmarked at enthusiast sites because they're not built or marketed as hardcore gaming/overclocking/multimedia boards. They're mostly entry-level budget boards for Joe Sixpack.

EDIT: BTW, AsRock has not been a division of Asus for a while now. They're a spinoff of Asus, but they're their own company.

I personally like Asrock motherboards but as a company they are abit tight on giving out review samples which would probably explain the limited reviews of their products. The best place to find asrock reviews is ultimate hardware where you will find a list of asrock reviews going back as far as March 2003.

So far I have owned:-

asrock k7s8x (over a year old and still going strong)
asrock k7s8xe+ (I owned 2 of these, put one in my main pc and another in my second pc. I replaced one of them with a nf2 which unfortunately died due to a leaking capacitor which so I am told is a fairly common problem with msi boards. I then purchased another k7s8xe+ and it's been happy computing ever since!)
